Sutro Hi.Efficiency sun lenses are made from the only material that is truly optically pure and free of haze; optical mineral glass. Even with all the advancements in plastics and polymers, glass remains the most durable material for precision optics. Would you buy a camera with a plastic lens?
When is hand made not better? Our polarizing filters are applied using a proprietary robotic process in insure perfect alignment and consistency in every lens, as well as blocking 99.9% of reflected glare.
Clarity
Our polarized lenses start in the USA as pure glass wafers from Corning. Those are sent to Italy and diamond cut and polished to perfect optical clarity. We then apply an Anti-Reflective (AR) coating to the inside of each lens to prevent rear and side light intrusion from reflecting into your eye. And because glass is a permanent material it never loses its shape or color. Plastic lenses often fade and warp in the frame causing distortion and eye fatigue.
Durability
Sutro Hi.E lenses are twice as scratch resistant as plastic or CR39 lenses for a longer life span and each lens is chemically tempered and tested for impact resistance before it leaves the factory.
